NSI Compact Antenna Test Range

DESCRIPTION

NSI offers Compact Antenna Test Range (CATR) with serrated edge terminations with a quiet zone of up to 6.5 ft x 6.5 ft (2 m x 2 m). This test systems can operate from 2 – 200 GHz, depending on the RF subsystem installed.

The reflector has a surface tolerance of < 2 mil (0.051 mm) RMS and is available in a wholly carbon fiber construction, allowing for a lightweight reflector with substantially improved tolerance to any thermal instability in the chamber. The serrated terminations can be customized for particular test applications.

NSI CATR feeds are available to cover the entire 2 – 200 GHz band and were optimized to uniformly illuminate the reflector. The feeds are choked cylindrical waveguide, linearly polarized and are available in standard waveguide bands. Polarization rotation is achieved through automated rotation, and feed position can be further optimized utilizing tilt angle adjustment. The feeds and the feed positioner are mounted on a low profile feed support enclosure, which helps suppress back radiation.

CAPABILITIES

The system interfaces with a wide variety of RF equipment and is capable of measuring amplitude and phase patterns from L-band to mm Wave bands. The system includes NSI Antenna Measurement Software.

The system software runs on an Intel based measurement workstation and provides automatic setup of scans based on measurement parameters and desired output. Measured data can be processed for far-field yielding complete characterization of the antenna's performance. A single data set provides information on antenna gain, side lobes structure, beam pointing and cross polarization.
NSI includes probing of the quiet zone to determine its performance at the time of installation.

NSI offers an optional spherical near-field upgrade to most compact antenna test ranges solutions, which allow for effective testing in lower-frequency bands.
